Breathedge 2 Hotfix 0.8.8 Patch Notes: Quest & Save Blockers Fixed

Official Breathedge 2 Hotfix 0.8.8 (September 9, 2026): Zarya engine ice, taxi complex pump, intercom battery stage, jammer stuck and the intro-scene save lock.

Breathedge 2 icy exterior zone used to illustrate the Zarya engine and pump fixes

Breathedge 2 Early Access moved to Hotfix 0.8.8 on September 9, 2026. Where 0.8.7 was mostly interaction polish, this one is almost entirely quest and save blockers — the kind of bug where you do exactly the right thing and the game refuses to acknowledge it.

Everything below comes from the official patch notes.

Quest blockers that are now fixed

  • Zarya engines. After breaking the ice off the engines, the starter handle did not respond and the game still reported that ice was present. Fixed.
  • Taxi complex pump. Knocking the ice off the pump did not always start it. Fixed.
  • Intercom battery stage. In certain cases the quest would not advance after knocking the lock off the intercom — specifically, the stage telling you to find the battery on the roof was never given. Fixed.
  • The five larvae. If you saved and quit to the menu right after killing the five larvae that come out of the WTF, the quest would not advance after loading. Fixed.
  • Station roof loudspeaker. Getting stuck while installing the loudspeaker on the station roof is fixed.
  • The station chief’s head. If you saved during the chief’s explosion, before the head appeared on the scene, the head would never appear. Fixed.

If you hit any of these before September 9, the correct move is to update and reload a save from before the failed step rather than trying workarounds.

Save and stability fixes

  • The intro scene save lock is gone. It was possible to save at the very start of the intro — before the suit appeared on the locker left by the kid — and loading that save would lock up the game. Saving in the starting scene is now only available after the kid leaves the train car.
  • Fixed getting stuck near the “Police” sign.
  • Fixed getting stuck in the jammer when the WTF spat you out, if you jumped at the moment it landed.
  • Alt + Enter once again toggles fullscreen — it had stopped working.
  • Fixed a FatalError on Intel Core Ultra systems.
  • Pitpackomats no longer shift out of place from shaking while in use.

Tool rules tightened again

Two more objects were reclassified, continuing the pattern from 0.8.7:

  • The grate inside the Pornhubble could be broken with the crowbar — now only the cutter works.
  • The train door with the coffinbot and the drillers’ round door could be opened with the crowbar — now only the screwdriver works.

What it means for how you play

  • Do not save during the intro. The game now blocks saving until the kid leaves the train car, but if you have an old save from that exact moment, it will still lock up.
  • Tool choice keeps mattering. Three separate objects have been reassigned to the cutter, Twister or screwdriver since 0.8.7. If an interaction will not trigger, question the tool before assuming a bug.
  • Quest steps that “did nothing” before September 9 are worth retrying after updating — most of this patch is exactly those.

Where this fits in the hotfix streak

0.8.5 (September 1) fixed launch-day breakage, 0.8.6 (September 2) slowed standard-mode survival drain and unblocked quests, 0.8.7 (September 4) was stability and interaction polish, and 0.8.8 (September 9) cleared quest and save blockers. We track every build in the patch notes tracker.
