The short version

QuestionAnswer

Full 1.0 releaseNot dated
Expected Early Access lengthRoughly 16–20 months, subject to change

The useful bit here is that August 31 is not the finished 1.0 release. The launch build starts with the first major story chapter, one large exploration area, and the core survival systems. New chapters, areas and mechanics are planned as major updates.

What will actually be in the August 31 build?

The developer currently lists resource gathering, crafting, upgrades, repairs, combat, main and side quests, NPCs, optional locations, events and open-space survival as launch content. Oxygen and temperature matter, and the sequel is being built around a denser exploration loop than the first game’s long empty commutes.

Is August 31 the PS5 or Xbox release date too?

No. Do not use the PC Early Access date as a console release date. PlayStation has an official Breathedge 2 concept page but says the release date is still to be determined. Xbox also has an official store listing, but that does not turn August 31 into a confirmed console date.

If you only care about console, bookmark the console status guide. For what is and is not included in the PC launch build, use the Early Access guide.
