Breathedge 2 Hotfix 0.8.7 Patch Notes: Door Trap, Saves & Dismantling Fixes

Official Breathedge 2 Hotfix 0.8.7 (September 4, 2026): door trapping rework, shuttle save fix, crowbar vs Twister dismantling rules, taxi letters clarified.

Breathedge 2 crowbar tool panel used for dismantling objects

Breathedge 2 Early Access moved to Hotfix 0.8.7 on September 4, 2026 (SteamDB build 25117281). It is the third hotfix in four days: 0.8.5 landed September 1, 0.8.6 on September 2, and 0.8.7 on September 4. The developer’s own header on the notes says the list “comes straight from your feedback” — and this round includes one clarification that will save a lot of players a wasted bug hunt, plus a change to which tool dismantles what.

Everything below comes from the official patch notes. Where a change affects how you play, we say so under “What it means”.

Fixes

  • 5120×1440 ultrawide now applies correctly. It previously reset back to 3840×1080.
  • Door logic reworked. Doors could close on the character and trap them when an object left the doorway. If you got bodied by a door in the first days of Early Access, this was the fix.
  • Shuttle flight save fix. Saving at the very end of the shuttle flight — before the character got up from the couch — could break the game. The game now only saves after you fully exit the flight scene.
  • Depot yoke save fix. The detachable yoke at the depot could break saving/loading.
  • The Attendant’s mechanics no longer break when body parts get stuck inside it. Yes, that is a sentence in the official notes.
  • Dismantling rules tightened. The train crate, lamp shades, robots and doors could previously be dismantled with the crowbar. They now can only be unscrewed with the Twister.
  • “Debug Pornhubble” task marker was missing until the grate was cut. The marker now shows properly.

Not a bug: the taxi letters

The official notes address one recurring report directly: if you are hunting the taxi alphabet letters and expected one neat pile — that is not a bug. The letters are deliberately scattered within roughly a 20-meter radius instead of sitting in a single heap. The developer notes this radius was increased compared to the demo build, so if you played the demo and remember them clumped together, the live build behaves differently on purpose. Search the area around the marker, not one spot.

About “broken saves”

The developer states they checked the saves attached to tickets and all of them loaded on their end. If your save will not load, the official channel is email: send your save file to info@breathedge.com. The 0.8.7 fixes above (shuttle flight, depot yoke) already remove two known causes of save corruption, so if your problem is one of those scenarios, a post-0.8.7 save should behave.

What it means for how you play

  • Check your tool before you swear at it. After 0.8.7, the crowbar does not unscrew the train crate, lamp shades, robots or doors — that is the Twister’s job. Several early reports of “can’t dismantle X” are now tool-selection questions, not bugs. If you are missing an expected interaction, ask whether the object is a unscrew-with-Twister type.
  • Save discipline around the shuttle. Because saving now happens only after fully leaving the flight scene, do not close the game while the flight-end sequence is still running. That window was a real corruption risk on 0.8.6 and earlier.
  • Ultrawide players on 5120×1440 can finally stop playing in a slightly wrong aspect ratio.
  • Difficulty choice is still yours to fix. Since 0.8.6 you can switch difficulty without starting a new save — that holds on 0.8.7.

Where this fits in the hotfix streak

RedRuins is shipping fixes at a fast Early Access cadence: 0.8.5 (September 1) targeted launch-day breakage, 0.8.6 (September 2) slowed standard-mode survival drain and unblocked quests, and 0.8.7 (September 4) is largely stability and interaction polish. We track every build in the patch notes tracker, and the early-game steps referenced here (hatch battery, antenna ice, the train starter area) are covered in the first hours guide.
